My Decorating Style is....

I find my style to be quite fitting.... if I do say so...

HOME QUEEN


Bringing up baby hasn't in the least bit cramped your sense of style. You have an almost theatrical approach to interior design, dressing up rooms just as you yourself would for a glamorous night out (or in). The look is opulent and luxurious, but can be equally sexy and sophisticated - just like you! (how do they KNOW this stuff???)

Living Room
You are drawn to all things that combine beauty with adventure. This is a high-octane, unabashed, sensual look that encompasses everything that's luxurious, voluptuous and curvaceous. Think rich fabrics, textured materials and glossy surfaces. While glamour makes a big, bold statement, it also smacks of total comfort and fun. Accessorising the room with a feminine touch will soften the overall look without diminishing its impact. Pretty finishing touches will reveal a home that is loved. Vibrant, jewel-like colours command attention while shapely and harmonious prints add a polished sense of style. Curled up on the sofa with a good book, your living room's the perfect place for some "me-time". (K- they're starting to freak me out a little bit...)

Bedroom
Your bedroom has that classic look that never goes out of style. Sleep is fundamentally important to our well being. In busy towns and cities, noise can often hamper a good night's sleep. Soft furnishings really do absorb sound, and touch is such an important sense in the bedroom, from crisp, linen sheets to wool or even sheepskin underfoot. Elegance and relative simplicity are keynotes in your bedroom, using vibrant colours to make a bold statement. (ummmm.....DUH.)

Dining Room
You're a home-lover, bringing a light, feminine touch to mealtimes. At home, you bring a particular sensibility to your dining space: everything is spot on, without being pretentious, unwelcoming or fussy. You're a home-maker par excellence, and mealtimes are the perfect occasion for bringing everyone together, or just treating yourself. If you like pattern, especially floral designs, be careful not to overdo it: there's a fine line between beguiling feminine charms and gilding the lily. When it comes to entertaining, you like quite simple (some might say 'peasant') food with big, robust flavours. (oh yeah baby.... "home-maker Par Excellence" now I've got proof...)

Home Office
Who says paying the bills can't be glamorous? Working from home is an increasingly popular solution to the challenge of bringing up a young family and making ends meet. A dedicated home office - even if it's just the corner of a room - will help keep you focused and separate work from hectic family life. Even if your desk is quite utilitarian, you can use colour and texture to add a touch of glamour and pizazz. ( Well... I DO have a leg lamp in my office....you know... every room needs a touch of glamour and pizazz)

Kids' Room
Let a child's room reflect his or her personality -- not yours! If you have the space for a designated playroom, great. If not, then giving your kids the biggest bedroom can be a smart move, certainly once they're past the toddler stage: it gives them a designated space to play, enabling you to keep the rest of your home more, rather than less, how it used to be. Cheap and cheerful is ideal when it comes to most things in children's rooms: not only do kids grow fast, they also grow out of fads and phases at an amazing rate. (Cheap and cheerful? Are they talking about MY kids???)
